Roanoke Rapids – Recent information provided to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division led to drug search warrants being executed on Taft Street. Agent D.J. Epperson received the information and followed up. Epperson was granted two search warrants which were executed on Thursday July 30, 2020 shortly before 10:00pm by the Narcotic, Criminal Investigative and Patrol Divisions of the Sheriff's Office.

During the search of the residence approximately 189 grams of cocaine, 148 grams of marijuana, 64 dosage units of ecstasy, several items of drug paraphernalia which included a kilo press and a currency counter and over $13,000 was seized.

Agent D.J. Epperson arrested and charged Michael D. Carter, 46, of Taft Street with trafficking in cocaine by possession, felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance.

Dante Sutton, 45, of Orange Blossom Trail with trafficking in cocaine by possession, felony possession of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sutton was also served with two Halifax County order for arrests for misdemeanor probation violation and driving while license revoked.

Carter was given a $10,000 bond and Sutton was given a $5,000 cash bond for the probation violation, a $400 bond for the driving while license revoked and a $10,000 bond for the drug counts. Carter and Sutton have an August 26, 2020 court date.

Street value of the drug seized from Taft Street is approximately $13,700.

Additional arrests at the residence

Jaquita Mills, 33, of Bower Road Littleton was served with an outstanding Wake County order for arrest for possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce. Mills was given a $300 bond with a August 26, 2020 court date.

Davares Williams, 22, of Southgate Drive was served with an outstanding Nash County warrant for arrest for misdemeanor larceny and obtaining property by false pretense. Williams was given a $5,000 bond with a August 13, 2020 court date.
